  Oral Examination

  During every examination, your dentist will look at the inside and outside of your mouth and assess the condition of your jaw, teeth, gums, tongue, and the roof and floor of your mouth. They also do a cancer screening exam at every check up appointment, its important we check our mouths for any changes and if you do notice anything make an appointment straight away. The dentist will also examine any crowns and/or fillings as well as dentures if you wear them.

  Gum Examination

  Since your gums are essential for supporting your teeth, they will be evaluated using a tool called a periodontal probe. This soft-headed instrument helps the dentist to inspect your gums for signs of inflammation such as gingivitis or periodontal disease. Early detection of gum problems can help with successful treatment outcomes.

  Dental X-Rays

  Your dentist may request that you undergo a dental X-Ray in order to better ascertain your tooth structure and the location(s) of crowns and/or fillings. Full-mouth X-Rays (OPGs) may be necessary for patients, especially if it is their first appointment made with the dental practice.
• Teeth Cleaning

  During your examination, the dentist or a helpful dental hygienist will perform a thorough cleaning of your teeth.   Follow-Up Assessments

  After your examination, it’s important to work out a routine checkup schedule with your dentist for future examinations. If your dentist has identified problems that require intervention, this is also an important time to work out follow-up treatments.
